Our friends at St. Louis Homes & Lifestyles recently blogged about attending the St. Louis Art Museum’s groundbreaking ceremony for the museum’s $130 million, two-year expansion project. Helmed by British architect David Chipperfield, the museum–ranked among the top 10 in the nation–will increase its size by a whopping 30 percent!

According to an article in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, “Chipperfield has designed showrooms for fashion designers Dolce & Gabbana, a luxury housing complex for China’s new rich, offices for BBC broadcasters and plumbing fixtures for hotels. But he is best known for his museums. High-profile projects include the Neues Museum on Berlin’s Museum Island, the Anchorage Museum and the Museum of Modern Literature in Marbach am Neckar, Germany, for which he won the prestigious Stirling Prize.”

We can’t wait to see the finished product!
